MIC connects travellers with people and ideas across China

About MIC · Meet China from the Inside

Rooted in sincerity. Open to renewal.

MIC creates thoughtful encounters with the people, places and ideas shaping China—so a journey becomes a way to understand, not simply to observe.

Why MIC exists

We do not design checklists. We curate meaningful encounters.

China is not one story. It is lived through neighbourhood routines, family tables, classrooms, factories, studios and the questions people are asking now.

MIC brings these perspectives into one journey. We create the conditions for genuine exchange, provide the context needed to understand it and care for the practical details that let people stay present.

The founders of MIC and their shared beginning at Fudan University

Our beginning

Two women. Fifteen years apart. One shared curiosity.

MIC began with an encounter on the campus of Fudan University. Its founders came from different generations, but recognised the same instinct in one another: ask better questions, listen closely and make complex things human.

Their first collaboration grew through FIST, a summer course project that brought research, field observation and storytelling together. The work won first place, but the more important result was a working method—and the beginning of MIC.

That method still guides us: begin with sincerity, enter with respect and keep making room for a new understanding.

Our service philosophy

Eastern integrity.
Boundless renewal.

Respect for people, relationships and context gives every MIC journey its foundation. Curiosity keeps it alive.

What guides the work

Four principles, present at every step.

From the first brief to the final goodbye, these principles shape what we include, how we coordinate and when we choose to say no.

01

Integrity

We describe access honestly, confirm what is ready and never turn someone’s daily life into a staged performance.

02

Local knowledge

We look beyond what is visible to connect a place with the histories, decisions and people that give it meaning.

03

Curation

More is not automatically better. Every encounter should earn its place in the wider rhythm and purpose of the journey.

04

Discretion

Trust is part of the experience. We protect relationships, respect boundaries and handle private arrangements with care.

The China we share

Depth, daily life and the present tense.

A MIC journey can move across different worlds without reducing China to a single image.

How we work

Care is a process, not an extra.

The experience begins before arrival and continues through every transition in the journey.

  1. 01

    Listen

Understand the people, purpose, questions, pace and practical boundaries.

  2. 02

    Research

Map the right local context, possible hosts, access conditions and operational realities.

  3. 03

    Curate

Choose and sequence the encounters that form a coherent point of view.

  4. 04

    Care

Host the journey with calm coordination, cultural sensitivity and room for the unexpected.
