MIC (“MIC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides curated and tailor-made travel planning and related services in China. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information when you visit our website, make an enquiry, request or confirm a journey, communicate with us, or otherwise use our services.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with MIC, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, country or region, and preferred language.
  • Enquiry and booking information, such as travel dates, group size, destination interests, accommodation and transport preferences, dietary requirements, accessibility needs, and other information you choose to provide.
  • Traveller information reasonably required to arrange confirmed services. Please do not send passport copies, health information, or other sensitive information unless we specifically request it through an appropriate channel and it is necessary for your journey.
  • Transaction information, such as the services purchased, payment status, billing details, and refund records. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers and are not normally stored by MIC.
  • Communications, including emails, messages, feedback, and customer-support records.
  • Technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, pages viewed, and interactions with the website.

2. How we collect information

We collect information directly from you, automatically through the website and similar technologies, and—where necessary to provide a journey—from a lead traveller, travel companion, authorised representative, payment provider, Shopify, or a travel-service partner. If you provide information about another person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries; design proposals and itineraries; confirm and manage bookings; arrange guides, transport, accommodation, tickets, activities, dining, and other requested services; process payments and refunds; communicate service updates; provide support; personalise and improve our services; maintain security and prevent fraud; keep business and tax records; comply with legal obligations; and, where permitted, send marketing communications. You may unsubscribe from marketing at any time.

4. How we disclose information

We may disclose only the information reasonably necessary to:

  • local guides, drivers, hotels, transport operators, venues, restaurants, ticketing providers, activity operators, and other suppliers involved in your requested or confirmed journey;
  • Shopify and providers supporting hosting, payment processing, analytics, communications, customer service, and information security;
  • professional advisers, insurers, regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies, or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and
  • a successor or prospective successor in connection with a genuine business reorganisation or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Third-party travel suppliers may process information under their own privacy notices. We do not sell personal information for money.

5. Shopify, payments, cookies, and third-party links

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which processes information to provide and improve the platform. You can learn more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. Payment providers process payment data under their own terms and privacy notices. We and our providers may use essential, functional, analytics, and advertising cookies or similar technologies. Your browser and any cookie-preference tool made available on the site can help you manage these technologies. Our website may link to third-party sites; their privacy practices are governed by their own notices.

6. International transfers

MIC is based in Shanghai, China, and our guests and service providers may be located in other countries or regions. Personal information may therefore be transferred to and processed outside your place of residence. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or other lawful safeguards.

7. Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to provide services, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain marketing or targeted advertising; and complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to lawful exceptions. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights.

9. Children

Our website is not directed to children. Where information about a minor is necessary for a family journey, it should be provided by a parent, guardian, or authorised adult. If you believe a child has provided information to us without appropriate authorisation, please contact us.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal obligations. We will post the revised version on this page and update the date above.
